Rapidfire PlusRapidfire Plus has been used by mountain bikers since 1985. Rapidfire Plus is still the first choice for a wide range of riding groups, from Cross Country racers to Freeriders and Downhillers. Rapidfire Plus is suitable for fast shifting. The rider can shift down up to three gears with one shift stroke. All new Rapidfire Plus shift levers, from XTR to Deore LX, are equipped with 2-Way Release. This means that the shift cable is released by pulling with the index finger or pressing with the thumb.
2-Way Release
The Rapidfire Plus shifter release lever is commonly called a trigger because it is operated like a pistol, by pulling toward the grip. The release lever of Rapidfire Plus shifters from Shimano Alivio to XTR can be operated in this same manner but adds the ability to activate a release shift by pushing with the thumb.
I-Spec EV
With the I-Spec EV construction, the Shimano shifter can be mounted directly on the brake lever, so that a clamp is not required and the adjustment range can be significantly increased. 14 mm are available with I-Spec EV for longitudinal adjustment and 20 ° for rotational adjustment, allowing each rider to make a setup to suit their individual anatomy or preferences. I-Spec EV shifters are not compatible with older I-Spec systems.
Optislick
Optislick cables feature a minimal and uniform electrically coated layer that improves cable routing efficiency and provides excellent corrosion resistance.
