The Shimano XTR SL-M9000-I shifters - more adjustment options thanks to I-Spec II

The Shimano XTR SL-M9000-I shifter set was the first with I-Spec II function. This opens up various adjustment options (position and rotation of the shifter) and the possibility of space-saving mounting on the brake lever. The set consists of an 11-speed shifter for the right and a 2-/3-speed shifter (without mode converter) for the left. Both SL-M9000-I feature anti-slip surfaces and their powerful Index shift function. Inner cables with polymer coating additionally reduce the amount of force required. The housings are made of lightweight aluminium, the levers are made of carbon, so that in Cross Country or Enduro racing, unnecessary grams are left out of it.
Of course, as Rapidfire Plus models, the XTR shifters are capable of downshifting several gears at once, and they feature 2-Way Release. The release lever can be operated in two directions by pulling with the index finger or pushing with the thumb. Instant Release provides immediate release and Multi Release (on the 11-speed lever) provides fast gear changes in both directions, with pulling to change one gear and pushing to change two.

Dyna-Sys11
The real advantage of the 11-speed drivetrain is that the entire range of ratios is available without having to give up the usual rhythm. Dyna-Sys11 ensures an optimal rhythm both in the flats and in the ascents with " Rhythm Step" gears in the most frequently used range. Drive efficiency is a critical performance indicator for the drivetrain. Dyna-Sys11 means more speed with the same effort.

Rapidfire Plus
Rapidfire Plus has been used by mountain bikers since 1985. Rapidfire Plus is still the first choice for a wide range of rider groups, from Cross Country racers to freeriders and downhillers. Rapidfire Plus is suitable for fast shifting. The rider can shift down up to three gears with one shift stroke.

2-Way-Release
With 2-Way-Release, the shifter can be pressed and pulled to shift to the smaller sprocket or chainring. This allows you to adjust the shifting process to your personal preferences. All newer Rapidfire Plus shifters are equipped with the 2-Way Release.

Instant Release
With Instant Release, the spring and thus the cable are released immediately when the lever is actuated, which ensures an enormously fast shifting process. The delay caused by a two-step shifting process with click and release is eliminated, so that the gear change is considerably accelerated and improved.

Multi Release (only for 11-speed; pull: one step, push: two steps)
With earlier shift systems, gear changes in one direction were faster than in the other. The choice of top-normal or low-normal always meant sacrificing shifting speed in one direction in favour of the other. With Multi Release, two gear changes can now be changed with one lever operation. The result: The fastest possible gear change in both directions, regardless of the type of rear derailleur used.

I-Spec II
I-Spec II describes a variant of the connection between brake lever and shifter in MTB drivetrains. This type of mounting allows the shifter to be adjusted both horizontally and vertically in relation to the brake lever, and keeps the cockpit tidy by reducing the number of clamps required. With I-Spec II, there is 12 mm of adjustment travel in the longitudinal direction and up to 15° of available rotation - for optimal ergonomic adaptation to your riding style, your seat position and your anatomy.
