MTB technology for Road bikes
The Shimano Tiagra SL-4703 shifter set is intended for 3x10-speed Road bike drivetrains, depending on the version. However, it can only be used with flat handlebars, not drop bars. The SL-4703 convince with their ergonomics, good accessibility and clear feedback when shifting. They are equipped with Rapidfire Plus MTB technology, which allows several gears to be shifted down with just one shift stroke. Therefore, the Tiagra shifter also have the 2-Way Release function, where the cable is released in two directions - by pulling with the index finger or pressing with the thumb. The right SL-4700 shifter also stands out due to its particularly fast cable release know as Instant Release. Instant Release shifting replaces the two-stage click and release shifting you are familiar with. Instant Release shifting releases cable as soon the lever is activated, resulting in the quickest possible gear changes. Whether it is an upshift with a top normal rear derailleur or a downshift with low normal rear derailleur a quicker shift is always a better shift.
